Dear Readers,
The poetry and
prose chosen for publication in the second issue of The Medulla Review represents
a collective act of will with an underlying resistance to conventional
perceptions of reality, an underlying spirituality that illuminates the simple,
and an underlying voice that challenges the notions of realism and redefines
the walls of literature.
These writers
remind us how thought and emotion can transform one’s very environment, how
quality writing need not exclude erotica, poverty, reconstructive history,
humor—and how mainstream concepts need not exclude literary voice.
From white
walls, milk, and ghee to dental floss, Blu-Rays, and the layered symbolism of
snakes, these voices play with the reflexive context of past and present, while
embodying an acute awareness of subjective and connected worlds.
These voices
sing with experience.
Namaste,
Jennifer Hollie
